Important Security Setting Information

In order to maximize your security and enjoyment of this board, this is a setting change we recommend you make to your user profile. Recall that since this is a public forum, it is important to minimize the amount of your private information that is visible to others. For this reason we recommend that you configure your user profile such that other users cannot contact you outside of this board using your personal email address. This board already has an excellent built-in intra-board communication system (called PM or “Private Messages”) that allows you converse privately with other members of this board without revealing your personal email address.

While you are always free to allow other members to contact you in any manner you choose, we suggest that you disable this feature by default for security reasons. You have the option to disable this setting (recommended) when you initially register for the board, but if you didn’t make a selection when you registered, be advised that the default setting is “enabled”. To disable this feature (recommended) , please follow the steps below:

1. Login to the board.
2. Under the main navigation tabs for the board you will see a link “user control panel”. Click this link to access your personal settings (the user control panel).
3. Click on the “Board preferences” tab. (Next to the Overview and Profile tabs).
4. You will see the option “Users can contact me by e-mail” . Click "no" and then click “submit” to save your settings.
